One of the joys of my job is experiencing the love and happiness new parents feel when they bring home their newborn baby. Baby James is so chilled and that sweet smile had the grandparents swooning! Welcome precious baby boy!
This special family have welcomed a beautiful baby boy, their second child, a little brother for their daughter. He is just so sweet and chilled and big sister just adores him! Congrats!
What better way to get natural family photos than in your own home. Everyone is relaxed and children are so much more happy in their own environment. The family have just welcomed a beautiful newborn baby girl, a little sister for her big brother and sister. Not only did I have to photograph this beautiful newborn but the family have the best backyard with chooks, a magnificent cubby with a slide, everything a child would want to play with. We had so much fun (and Mum and Dad even let them jump on their new bed)!!
That sweet scent of a newborn baby that you nurtured and grew inside of you is like nothing else. So precious, so small, so sweet. Welcome little Finn!
I had the pleasure of photographing this family 2 years ago when they welcomed their newborn baby son and it's such a delight to be asked back to photograph another new edition to the family, a beautiful baby girl. Congratulations!
Okay I have to say that one of my favourite subjects to photograph is Tweens. Tweens are happy, laughing, fun, adorable, up for anything! This gives me free reign to express my creativity and work with their ideas to create something truly unique for them.
This is a forgotten age group for photos. Newborns become babies, and children are photographed constantly. By the time your child reaches the in-between age of (9-13) they're taking selfies of themselves to upload to social media to feel accepted by the peers. If you try to take a photo of your Tween, get ready for the look of "no way are you taking my photo"!!
Most Tweens that I've worked with love the whole process of working with a photographer and come out of their shell. This age is so exuberant and willing to do anything to get the photo, something that portrays them and their personality.
I love in-home newborn and family sessions. To photograph the interaction and love you have for one another is what I try to capture. In-home sessions are how your daily life looks now.
When I arrive I look for the best natural light in your home. It's good to schedule your session when your home has the most amount of natural light during the day. There's no need to say cheese or pose for the camera as it's the love and connection I try to capture for you, especially when introducing a newborn baby to the family. Your pets can also be included because they are just as much an intragal part of the family as well.
Be prepared for lots of cuddles. If you have any special gifts or heirlooms that have sentimental meaning, these can be included in the photo shoot too. The only preparation prior to the photo shoot would be to declutter your bedside tables and around the couch in the family room, nothing too tidy as we want your home to look lived in, a little bit of mess is fine!
Once you've made your booking I will send you my Welcome Booklet that gives you much more information about how to prepare, what to wear, etc.
This family I photographed just before Christmas, welcoming their newborn baby son. I hope you enjoy your preview.
Happy New Year everyone!! I hope everyone has had a wonderful New Year and start to 2018!
I adored meeting these new parents of the most precious newborn baby boy just before Christmas. Have a look at that hair? In-home newborn sessions are my favourite and stress free for new parents trying to cope with lack of sleep and just knowing how to look after your new baby. If you'd like more information about a more relaxed in-home newborn photo session, give me a call on 0400 841627.
I photograph lifestyle photography meaning that I photograph you as you are now, real life moments captured. This beautiful 4 month old baby girl was a joy and her parents are totally smitten!
Don't be put off having photos taken at this age as babies can lift their head upright whilst on their stomachs and hold their heads steady with support. They have the most gorgeous smiles and individual personalities are developing. I like to include parents in any way I can during the shoot, perhaps cuddling, holding their baby or face to face. Favourite squeeky toys can also bring on those adorable giggles.
Here in Oz Christmas arrives in our Summer which commences in December. School Holidays start usually a week before Christmas.
It gets extremely hot here in our Summer and we're prone to bush fires across the country.
Traditional decorations including wreaths on our front doors, Christmas Trees in our loungerooms, Christmas lights decorating the outside of our homes and carol services are held all over the country in local parks ending with massive firework displays.
Most families try to be home together for Christmas and the main meal is normally eaten at lunch time. We love the traditional English style Christmas dinner - Roast Turkey or Chicken, roast vegies, gravy, the works! We finish with Plum Pudding, custard, Brandy Butter and cream and don't forget the traditional Pavalova (Pav!)! Christmas dinner is cold meats, salads and seafood usually cooked on the barbecue (or Barbi as we call it)! People might think we're crazy for having a hot roast lunch on a hot Summers day which could be up to 35 degrees (or 100 degrees fahrenheit) but we usually polish it down with a cold glass of beer or soft drink!
The day is usually finished with a game of family cricket in our backyards or down at the beach to work off all of the food.
I've yet to experience a white Christmas but one day!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Watch Them Grow Photography!

I had a fun afternoon with two little sisters, so cute! We looked for fairies, jumped on the trampoline, played dollhouse, jumped on Mum & Dad's bed (you're the best Mum ever)!!!
Thanks Sarah for letting me capture your two gorgeous girls!
Those first few days after you've arrived home with your new baby seem like a blur but it's almost as if they've always been there. This little bub decided she wanted to arrive early and Mum & Dad are totally smitten. Welcome sweet Matilda!
I feel so honoured to be asked to photograph a new baby to the family, especially when it's been a long road to becoming parents. Where two become three, how beautiful is this little newborn baby? Congratulations Lia & Michael!
It's not about capturing perfection to me it's about capturing true emotion of your family. Capturing the love, the feelings and bond you have one another. This is lifestyle photography where everything doesn't need to be perfect, not the perfect house or perfect clothing. Location sessions allow the freedom to be yourselves, your everyday of who you are now.
This gorgeous family have just welcomed their second daughter to the family and big sister is just besotted with her.
When I photograph a family I try to capture each family member's personality. I love it when I have a session and everything just clicks (no pun intended)! When I arrived at their home we had planned to go to a nearby park but their front garden was perfect for the photo shoot. Even better when the boys decided to bring out their instruments that they love to play, it really helped capture who they are now. How adorable when they decided to play their instruments together!
The beauty of photographing lifestyle is that I can come to you and photograph your family in your home where you feel relaxed and familiar with your surroundings.
When photographing a family welcoming a new baby, I try to capture the intimacy and affection the parents have for their beautiful new baby.
This gorgeous family have just welcomed their 12 week old baby boy and my gosh he can stand (with support) already!
After you've booked your session I work with you to find the best location for your family photo shoot. A place that you frequently visit where the children love to play to keep them occupied and have fun. I love finding new locations and this particular park, Fairfield Park & Boat House by the Yarra River was just gorgeous. Who would guess having lived in Melbourne all my life that there are still hidden gems to find!
The joy I feel when I return to past client's homes and see how much their first born baby has grown and also that they've welcomed another newborn baby girl to the family.
Welcome beautiful baby girl!
I usually only conduct Tween Mini Shoots at the beautiful Mont Du Soleil but I received a call from a Mum of a toddler who fell in love with the location and asked if I could photograph her 2 year old daughter there.
She had so much fun playing with the huge balloons, feeding the pony and horse, swinging her doll on the swing and playing in the fields of flowers.
